Hope someone can shed some light on this. I just finished my 73 Gran Torino and installed a 351 Cleveland 2v with 270 comp cam. The c/4 trans was originally behind a stock 302. The trans was rebuilt by ammco in the mid eighties but less than 20,000 miles. Under normal driving it shifts fine both auto and manual. On hard launch it pulls great through first but when it up shifts into second it feels like the tire is just spinning but no rpm increase as would be expected from tire slip. I guess the best description would be a mushy shift. The motor doesn't lay down it just sounds and feels like the brakes are applied. Third gear shift is fine. It does the same thing in auto or manual. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
