Losing Fluid

I got a rebuilt 1959 MX to replace my 1965 Galaxie COM last year and noticed there was a drip of fluid hanging on the tailpiece when I park. But also I am noticing the loss of a lot of fluid, like a quart every 300-400 miles. It won't leak in the driveway, even in gear, but I know it is leaking, pretty bad. Just don't know where.

I called the builder and he said the only thing that would cause that was a vibration, like a bad U-joint, letting fluid past the seal. He did not mention driveshaft, which he put on with the tranny.

Now I do have vibration issues. At 60 there is usually a vibration every 3-4 seconds. I really don't like going over 70 but I figured that was unbalanced tires or old bushings. What do you think about this, and the explanation and/or a possible fix? Especially if it is something I can handle myself.
