  • late shifts... still...

So, I changed the vacuum modulator and added a vacuum hard line. The transmission still gets these delayed shifts! It holds on to first and second and it's really getting annoying. Also, on the downshifts, they come in too early and I can feel a heavy engine break as I am slowing down. Will I harm the transmission if I drive it like that? I figure that alot of people actually like the shifts like that to race and whatnot, so maybe it's ok if I drive it as it is... I just don't want to be hurting the frictions or anything like that, but I think it's ok since there doesn't seem to be excess overlap, just a delay.

Could this be a result of a plug in the governor? What could be going on in the valve body that would cause this? BTW, When I rebuilt the transmission there was originally no filter in the governor, but since there was one in the kit I went ahead and put it in. Could this be the issue?

One last thing I am going to check is to see if the kickdown button in the valvebody is stuck. I don't have a lever or a rod hooked up to the kickdown, but maybe internally the lever is stuck. I doubt it, but it won't hurt to check. Any other ideas?
