MX VALVE BODY HELP

I have a 62 TBIRD with a COM / MX . The transmission has the code PCE-K.

When taking off from a stop the transmission (in drive 1 – green dot) will shift from 1st, go to 2nd for a split second then go to third. If I start in low then but it to drive 2 (not the green dot) it will shift from 1st to 2nd then to third at the correct speeds. I have put in a new modulator, checked the vacuumed (approx 16 “at the modulator) and have turned the adjusting screw almost all the way out. The modulator adjusting does have some effect. To far in, no firdt gear, out almost al the way seems to lower the shift point a little. I have also removed the governor and made sure it was free and clean.

The car has been doing this since I owned it. Last year I pulled the VB to change the manual linkage and kick down o rings.

I’m going to pull the VB again and attempt to clean it. Should I take it apart, or just spray carb cleaner into al the plungers and valves?

Is there somewhere I can send the VB to be rebuilt, or checked out?

Thanks

Orlando

In D2 it should start out in second gear and shift to third. In D1 it should start in fist, shift to second and them to third. If both start in first gear then you have valve body problems or linkage mis-alignment.

D1 and D2 work as they should, but when in D1 and light acceleration it will go to 25 - 28 MPH then shift from 1st to 3rd, with a very slight pause in 2nd, Under WOT, I will get 1st to 2nd to 3rd.

You can separate the valve body and try some spray, then use a small pick to move the valves.

Or take them all out and do a good cleaning.

While it is out blow compressed air into the governor circuit.
