Leaking Shifter Shaft FMX - Help

First of all let me introduce myself. I have a couple of 1970 Mustangs that I like working on myself when I can - too cheap, don't trust others to work on, and keeps me out of bars (did not say liquor stores). Belong to a number of forums and have used the Cleveland forum on this site. Appreciate any help I can get and try to return advice where I can. Lok forward to participating on this one.

One of the cars is a Mach 1 with 351 4v Cleveland and FMX trans. Trans runs solid but has a leak coming out of the Shifter shaft area. Heard it possible to fix w/o special tools but is not a easy job. Trans is in the car.

Would appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction of tackling this.

Thanks in advance.

The valve body must be removed first.
Then the levers.

There is a roller and spring under the rooster comb that can be a bit of a PITA.
Be prepared for a bath.
