The C-6 was out of my 65 Galaxie for almost a year while I replaced the blownup 428CJ with a new 445 Stroker. I installed a new pickup screen and pan gasket when I put it back in and thought all was well. But after the car sits for a day it seeps fluid at the selector shaft.
How big a deal is it to fix this? What parts do I need? Do I need special tools? Does anyone have a trans shop in the Gainesville Florida area that they would recommend?
The trans has a Cheeta SSC Turbo Shifter selector shaft installed, does this require special parts?
Pretty common place to leak on this trans...there is a seal and a oring in this location. The orig you can match at your auto parts store, and the seal as well should be available from them as well.
It will involve dropping the pan and the VB to replace the seal, the oring is external. The seal can only be removed once the shaft is removed via taking the shaft out.
