I just bought a 1964 f-100 with a 223 straight six and a 3 on-the-tree.I've read that 64 was the last year that ford put this particular enigine in the F-100. The truck runs and shifts very well but I would like to have more power. I really want to keep the manual shift on the column and I have no idea if the transmission I have will fit up to a 302 or a 351w. If it doesn't fit is there and 3 speed tranny that I could use for a ford small block v-8 and have a column shift? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I have a 65 f-100 with a 240 I6, and a T18 4 speed on the floor.
what trans where you going to consider? There is no other 3 speeds on the column that you can really use.

Couldn't he use a 3.03 (Toploader) 3 speed? I've got one behind my 351W in a 1964 Fairlane.
