I don't think it does while the engine is running because i back it out of my shop in the mornings and let it warm up and i don't see any fluid. But when i come home @ night and park it in the shop fluid is on the floor. Thanks
Sorry about that. The car is a 1969 Mach1 with a 351C 4bbl,FMX.My dad swapped out the 351w about 30yrs ago(i'm 32 now).I don't know if the trans is the one that came with the car or not.He may have swapped it also. There is no tag on it.
well when i looked up at the vent tube, the puddle of fluid was directly under the vent tube.So in order to confirm this i slid a piece of rubber hose on the end of the vent tube.As the car sat over night. The next morning guess what, fluid was comming out of the hose.I can also see my pan gasket leaking, and it has a new gasket(one of them black gaskets, also this is my 2nd pan). And a little bit leaking around my shift lever.
Could be convertor drain back but I dont understand it getting high enough to come out the vent. The next time you see a puddle, check the fluid level before you start the engine to see if drain back is the problem. If it is there are a couple of easy fixes.

ok the car has set 1 full day.On my dip stick 2 1/2in is right in the middle of the two arrows(the full mark). The fluid on the stick is 6in up from the end of the stick.Did i make any sense? Thanks for helping me.
Try this easy fix. Clamp a hose on the vent tube and run it to the top of the fill tube holding it in place with wire ties. Put a clear plastic in line fuel filter on the end of the hose attach to keep it in a vertical position. Leave the dip stick up out of the tube about 1/4". Now watch the gas filter for trans fluid after the car has been parked. If you dont get any trans fluid the problem is solved. This is an old Jet-a-way fix. Used it for years.

There is another possibility in addition to those already proposed, the tranny is over filled. Even with converter drain back this should not happen as the portion of the converter which falls below the input shaft level will never drain back into the tranny and it holds several quarts.
