I have a 69 Cougar, 351 windsor. engine idles strong. When i shift into drive the car stalls. Feels like i have a clutch and i popped it. If i keep my foot on the brake and raise the idle i will usually stay on and want to go.I am ggod with engines and no nothing about trannies. Is it possible the torque converter is not doing its job and letting the plates lock up completelly? and is there an adjustement for this?

Not the converter (and no, there is no "adjustment") -- sounds like an engine/vacuum/carburetor problem instead.

An FMX transmission does not have a lock up convertor and if the convertor were bad enough to sieze up the transmission fluid would be burnt etc.

It does sound like an engine problem.
