Hard shifting AOD

I'm hopeing someone might have some advise for me. The transmission in my pickup,( 1996 F150 2WD,5.8 ), has decided to start hard shifting. Its as though there is no manifold vacume, ( if it were a vacume controlled valvebody ), or at full throttle. The engine runs fine, and all the guages read normal, except the speedometer, which is now totally unresponsive, ( the odometer shows a number, but doesnt change ). Also, now, the check engine light is on, and the overdrive engagement " off " light' ( on the shift lever ), flashes weither or not the OD is engaged or not.

I figure its a computer control problem of some sort, but being an "old timer", I'm not really up to speed on these things. It would be great if someone more clever than me on these things, could give me some areas to investigate.

Thank you very much.....Jim

You have OBDII so have your computer codes read

Since your truck is a 1996 the computer can be read with a code reader. Most AutoZone/ Oreily parts stores will do this free. Do that first. Pete

That was it...

Either I somehow got a stick tangled up in the wiring or the chipmunks got me again by gnawing off the wiring right at the boot on the connector. Anyhow after repairs, it works . Thanks again......Jim
