have a 67 c6. Got it rebuilt, somewhere along the line the trans shop swap the vb for a 77 which has no detents in the manual valve. concerned i took it back, brought along a 66 vb i had layin around and they went through it. no 2-3 shift probably a green dot. anyways long story short I put in a manual vb that has no detents in the manual valve. the B & M shifter provides gear selection but i'm worried it'll slip or lose adjustment. Can I just swap out the 77 manual valve for the 66? There seems to be differneces there so I don't know if it wil work.

The 77 VB's manual valve is completely different, not swapable. The 66 VB is a dual range (green dot) style, no good for manual shifting. You will need a 67-71 valve body which has the detent in the valve body.

yeah I swapped the manual valves and it wouldn't manually shift from 1 to 2. Its just frustrating that the trans shop swapped the vb i provided (I provided a 67 they gave me back a 77) then screwed up the next one I brought in (which turned out to be a 66) and with the work involved under the car, covered in fluid, my temper get the best of me.At least I know the differences between them now, its a hard lesson.
