Our float was too fast, short but enjoyable.
The Wapsi river was flowing around 3910 cfs @ the Anamosa Gauge & with in the banks; at times barely. We took about 45 minutes to float from Matsell Bridge to Stone City. Then 50 minutes from Stone City to Anamosa. A total of 6.7 miles. It went without incident, but the river; between Stone City & Anamosa, was with the expected number of small (10-25hp) power/fishing boats. Which most respected & slowwed for us canoes.
I wouldn't recommend getting out on this stretch of river if the "cfs" flow would happen to be greater than 4000 cfs & rising @ Anamosa.
On a side ****NOTE****
I Know of a few paddlers that would like to have input as to where would be a good stretch of river that would be good for RIVER CAMPING!
I have always thought of the Turkey River as a good River camping river. Any ideas?
