We took a nice weekend paddle down the Des Moines river from Evelenad Access near Oskaloosa to the Hardfish Access near Eddyville. With the recent rains the water level has risen a lot, for this reason we opted to leave the children at home for the Saturday paddle and check it out. All was good and once on the river it didn't seem to be running as fast as it appeared. Turned out to be a beautiful day once the clouds broke. Sunday proved to be even more beautiful and the river had dropped since the day before. The kids had a great time Sunday swimming on a sandbar. This is about an 8 mile section.
