I just had a killer opportunity come up with my new job. I am so happy and nervous and excited!

This means my work hours and days have changed, so the float I had proposed for the 12th and 13th is off. I will be working Mon.-Fri. 8-5 effective this coming Monday.

Hey, maybe I can do the Upper Iowa cleanup on the 25th now...hmmm...

Sorry you had to cancel your float. Congratulations on the job opportunity! And what's this about an Upper Iowa Cleanup on the 25th? Would appreciate any info on such an effort.

Well, congradulation: KJ, on gaetting regular weekends off.
We'll have to get that info on the 8 mile float around & under the HIGH bridge, Boone & Hwy 30, for next weekend. You'll have to come that way.
I'll get that info out on the Upper Iowa River CLEANUP for Saturday September 25 @ Chimney Rock Canoe & Camp. Met there @ 10 AM for the clean up. FRom Kendilville to Bluffton. If enough VOLUNTEERS show up, they'd like to split the group into two groups; one go north & the other go from Bluffton to Decorah.
Everyone that goes is suppose to bring a covered dish, salad, desert or something for the potluck for saturday night's dinner.
If you don't have a canoe, let Chimney Rock know & they'll reserve one for you. Camping On site friday & satuday night.
I'll get the rest details later.

well, next weekend I do have other plans, but maybe...

OK, here's the scoop on Sept. 18-19. Clinton County Conservation Board is supposed to have an "Adult Fall Camp" that weekend. Chuck and Mel and I have already said that if they cancel it due to not enough people signing up, then we would like to do some sandbar camping. Maybe we could do that in conjunction with your float, Nick?

Someone in the know that lives in that area also told me that the upper Des Moines, meaning the Kalo area, is too shallow right now to really run. Maybe Boone Waterworks to Laurie Ramp (Hwy. 210 just west of Madrid) would be an option for that. Approx. 23 miles. Congregation, turn to pages 38-41 in your hymnals, LOL. ("Paddling Iowa" for those of you who don't know.)

Des Moines River 9-18-04

September 11 2004, 12:24 AM

Boone waterworks to Salorville Wildlife Area DUE to Family (KIDS 6 & 8) float. Family Float +/- 6.5 Miles.
May have to start a new thread!
Thinking of just running our shuttle first, then going to the Boone Waterworks Park; just 2 canoes, 4 adults & 2 kids. UNLESS others want to join in on this or another float!
We'll be shooting for putting in around 11 Am @ waterworks. 319-360-1715 my cell #.

We could always sort of overlap your float and say hi, at least.
