Who wants to be a Handcuff Millionaire?

January 9 2008 at 11:37 AM

We will start off the year with a fairly easy question. Remember NOT to answer the question here and DO email me with it. The first winning answer will appear here with credit due to the Commander of Cuff Comprehension.
Lars has graciously donated his new Carberry Cuff to the lucky winner in this first of the year contest question. And the Question is:

When performing in theatres, Houdini would set up a board in the lobby or entry way showing all kinds of cuffs that he has escaped from. One cuff on the board was called the "Boston Cuff". We as collectors, probably have at least one in their collection but never call this cuff by that name. Please identify this famous cuff.

Wow, we had contestants from all over the world on this query.
The lucky winner is Ron Spitz (who happens to be only 3 or 4 hundred miles away).

He correctly named the cuff as the Bean Prison. The Bean Patrol, Bean Detective and Iver Johnson could also qualify but his answer came in first. The Walden Tool cuff was guessed but even though they originated in Boston, it was not the correct answer.

Congrats to Ron. Lars said that Ron will receive the cuff with its original key and holster under the following conditions. Item must be picked up in person by Friday and before 5pm. By the way, how is the weather in Sweden these days, Lars?

For the next question, we will step it up a notch in the difficulty scale.

Thanks for playing! Til next time!

Mark,
I am honored to be the winner. Lars, could you let me know the best way to get to your home. The "prize" would be worth the trip.

Hi guys,

The weather in Sweden is gray, moisty and cold.
Ron, you are welcome to my place whenever you wish.
I'm sorry but I've traded the Carberry with a beutiful Paki cuff.

Cheers, Lars

Lars,

I know a guy that can stamp any prison name on your you're new cuffs. Sorry I missed the prize. Will have to talk with Mark about this in a few week at the West Coast Lock Show.

I noteced that one reply to this thread has been removed--good.
