Hi,

I recently acquired these hinged straps items.






They were given to me along with assorted restraints by a former prison officer. I have no idea if they are in anyway connected with handcuffs but they did come from Parkhurst Prison. Some have serial numbers and others don't. The Pins which form the hinges are hand hammered into dome heads possibly indicating some age however that’s just speculation.

They previous owner has now emigrated and I am out of contact with him so can't ask him.

Any ideas ?

If they are in fact for restraints perhaps they were bolted to a cell cot and then a leather strap also bolted down and with a staple was fed and padlocked through the various slots which could be for adjustment purposes.

It is hard to know for sure but I would not mind have 2 in the collection.

Could you perhaps post another photo showing one with a ruler in the picture so we can get a better idea of the size of the items?

I realised as soon as I’d posted the images that there was nothing to indicate scale. Hope this may help.
