Why and when did smith and wesson quit makin the model 90 and when was the first m100's introduced. Also.. does anyone know why did they quit stamping both cuffs with the name and logo. i think they looked better wityh both stamped.

I am not sure about the exact year, but the model 90's were replaced by the Pat. Pending model 100's somewhere around 1983 or 1984. Here is a picture of mine:

Notice that the double lock has changed from a push-pin to a slide-type lock and access to that slide lock is limited to one side of the cuff. This model was replaced by the triditional model 100 fairly quick (or so I have been told). I am sure there is a S&W buff here that has specific dates as to this transition. Anyone want to take it from here?

They were available in my part of the country about mid 1983. Possibley they were available in the East a little earlier.
