Taiwan cuffs need key

May 3 2008 at 9:34 AM

I have a pair of taiwan made handcuffs but a standard key will not work. On these the center post is larger. Can anyone help me locate the key I need?

If you can, please post a picture of the cuffs, and a close up shot of the keyway with something to show scale. This will help.

Cheers, Mike

As a guess, do these cuffs have a three link chain? If som they may be the cheap "Party Cuffs" that sell for less than ten bucks a pair. If so, they take a different key from the standard ones. I can get you keys, if you like. The keys are cast pot metal.

Alternatively, if the key is close to a standard handcuff key, you may be able to ream out the center hole with small drill bits. The keys are cheap, so you have little to lose. I can get you those, too, although can be found all ovcer the place.

Can't say more without pix.

Yes, 3 chain links

stud the key hole goes around is about 1/8 inch, has the word stop on the key hole side and a bar or arm to move to stop the cuffs from getting to tight.

One cuff has the number 00776 on it.

Taiwan on the other cuff

I did not buy these. They were on a bed frame a tenant had and left here. I could not sell the bed with those on it.

I tried to reply by email but the address would not work.

Thanks

I have keys for those. I'll sell you one for a buck. You can e-mail me at handcufforg.at.spamex.com.

But personally, I wouldn't bother. You can probably twist them apart with a couple of big screwdrivers, or hacksaw the damn things apart. They're not worth the powder to blow them up. The key is probably worth more than the handcuffs.

I call them "Party Cuffs," but honestly, I don't even recommend them for that duty. They are complete dreck.

I finally located and received the keys I needed. They have 3 circles on the end and work fine.
