H&R blued super handcuffs

July 11 2008 at 11:19 PM

Has anyone ever seen a blued set of H&R super handcuffs?

They are the early model without the grooves in the bows.
Black in color, they show some wear from use.

Could they have been made for the military?

Any information on them would be appreciated.

I have seen 2 blued sets

One was an unusual pair I once owned with a factory made long chain and the other was in the collection of the a Toronto locksmith and was in fact a set of cuffs that were seperated and each riveted onto a leather waist belt that was used as a torso / hands restraint at the Old Don Jail in Toronto.

I am convinced they were each made this way at the H&R factory and were not a gunsmith bluing job.

A/C, take a look at the cover of the 2006 Annual posted here.

My article inside discusses them.

Yep, "First Models". I've never seen blued "Second Models".

message received Brad.

A couple of days after I made the post I noticed the blued H&R supers
in the thumbnail pic of the 06 Annual.

As I don't have a copy, I haven't read your article..

Were any excerpts posted in the forum?

with pictures?

Several weeks ago I posted part of an H&R ad from their 1943 catalog about their chain twisters. The ad also shows their model 123 Super Handcuffs available with a Nickel or Blue finish ($12.80).

A/C, no, no excerpts.

Buy the book. You'll love it, even if my article gives you a headache.

I wasn't being intense. I don't know how I posted that twice, but I couldn't get rid of the second one.
