Properly working Presto Lyon

March 1 2009 at 7:18 AM

Hi all!

For those of you who are interested I have uploaded a small clip to Youtube of a properly working pair of Presto Lyon handcuffs, short chain version which take a single bit key. These cuffs are rare but if you find a set, the release spring mechanism is always totally gone or fainted. My skilled friend Bengt has updated my both sets (long chain + short chain version) of PL by exchanging the springs in the hinge.
When the cuffs are opened by the key, they spring open to release. This is a most unusual feature on handcuffs. The only other pair with spring loaded hinge I know about are the Carberry handcuffs. On the Carberry the feature is the opposite though, the bows are spring loaded to close.

Hi Lars,

It's a nice idea to use you tube as even a relatively brief clip still gives the viewer something extra that a still image cant offer.

Thanks for taking the time.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the appreciation!
It's very simple to upload clips to Youtube
and totally free of charge.

Lars, thanks for posting this; I do not own a Presto Lyon and probably never will. It is nice to see how things like this work through video.

BTW, for those of you who do not know......I have been doing this sort of thing for quite a while (using You Tube to talk about cuffs and explain their funcions). You guys can check out my You Tube account here: http://www.youtube.com/user/amazing4928
Most people here will have an interest in all the handcuff videos but there is a lot more stuff on there......magic, escape, and comedy stuff too. Feel free to have a look.

Cheers, Mike D~C/

Nice vids Michael.

Good to see my old set of Palmers again and a special treat was seeing your Chair of Death.

Good stuff!

Thanks Steve! BTW, I will have 4 new videos uploaded on my You Tube very soon (they are uploading as I write this.....but they take a while).

The Palmers video that you mentioned is the most viewed video I have (almost 18,000 views and still going strong); people seem to be really interested in that one. I think that it is important to share with the community connected to the the things that you have a passion for. Some of us will never get to handle a set of Palmer Manacles in person but now everyone interested in them can see how they work and get some good close-up video of them (the next best thing in my book).

Cheers, Mike D~C/

Thanks for the heads up on the Presto Lyon for sale but it is not going to happen right now (money is way too tight here in Michigan at the moment).

Cheers, Mike D~C/
