Hi,

as a great surprise today my edition of the new Handcuff Annual arrived - I almost had given up the hope! Thanks to Joe for all the work and including me in the mailing of these first 20 samples he got from the printer - who else got his?!?

For all those who don't know what they're missing:


It's even thicker than the last one and I don't know where to start.

Of course the title picture recognition contest was unfairly easy for european participants this year, who doesn't recognize this famous handcuff maker in his working gear?

The biggest surprise was the article about the Gotchas. Now I know what Joe held back all these weeks... It was great to read they really are in production again and that they agreed to give the first 10 pairs (OK, I'm sure Stan has an even earlier one) exclusively to the collectors community - I emailed my order immedeately! (I must admit, even a few hours before posting this here, just to be sure...).

So much for now, I've got to continue reading... The story behind the Horst Stein Moabit Belly Chain seems to be a milestone in handcuff history research!

I just got my annual too!
The Gotcha article is very well written, as you indicated.
I called the Gotcha people and reserved a pair for me too!
They said that they will reserve 20 pairs for the collecting community.
I urge everyone to get their orders in soon.

I had the same great experience at GOTCHA. In fact when the salesman found out I collected handcuffs he offered me a piece that had been laying around his garage. He can't find the combination but I'm sure John Bushey can get it open.

Please tell everyone it's April Fools day. I'm tired of getting emails asking me about Gotcha and how to contact them and how to buy the cuffs. GOTCHA IS CURRENTLY OUT OF BUSINESS. Maybe some day they will be back.

I usually enjoy these April Fools jokes, but I think this one has back fired.
I know a lot of serious collectors both here in the UK & also abroad have called, emailed or text Bill & having done so, I would think he will NOT offer collectors the first choice when he does start dealing again!!!

I agree, but Bill Taper had no interest in collectors when he was selling the Gotcha, and only sold to law enforcement, so he is not likely to change that attitude if he started making cuffs again.

I'm wondering if Mark 0--0 is really Mark Lyons or an impersonator. Lyons hasn't been on the forum in about a year. I talk to him so I know he is still around.
