They are the more rare and first model Marlin.
If the tweezer spring was broken,or removed, (the most likely failure), and someone had another, this is actually a good price.

Over $2,100.00 starting bid on a simple padlock, PLEASE!!!! This guy is either on dope, crazy, or just a crook. I don't know what the going rate is on an Oregon Boot but I think that his opener is a little out of the ballpark. Also, I have seen a few Hunchback locks in exellent shape go for under $1,500.00, so that one is way up there too. The Rail Road padlocks are so high its ridiculous, not to mention that it is illegal to sell Rail Road locks on eBay. And its criminal to sell them anywhere at those prices! I suggest that eBayers everywhere boycot this seller and all sellers who start auctions out at ridiculous prices or overcharge for shipping. tHis nOt.....{gOoD} bUsiNEss, mY fRIEnd!..;!!?!

I must apologize before I continue!!! Why, I'm not sure I guess maybe I have a little more respect or maybe I'm tried of all the negative comments but anyway...... Here is a brief history lesson. Before E bay if you where a collector there where very few place's to get your fix for handcuffs. Retried-again was one of those few dealers you could depend on!! You would wait patiently for his list to come in the mail, yes I said mail! No photos just photocopies of the cuffs. He was and still is in my opinion and before I get blasted I did say my opinion a well respected fair and to the point dealer. If you didn't like the price you didn't have to buy it and if you didn't buy it you know someone else would!! Why criticize a guy for his asking price if you want it you going to by it!!
I thought the prices where high then try to buy those pieces today!!!
This always applies to Mario who was selling the Lily Irons. A great dealer!!!
I have some great pieces in my collection Houdini as well as cuffs that I have Joe and Mario to thank for!!!
Well, I guess I said what I had too.....
Happy Collecting!!!!!
Agree with fred

HI,
I agree with Fred in that I, too, have bought a lot from Mario Carrandi
(seller of LIlly irons), who changed his description after I emailed him,
and also sold and bought a ton from Joe. You either like the price or don't.
You buy it or not. It does no one any good to sit and complain about each other or the prices we ask. If you don't like it, don't bid. If you want but won't pay the price put in an offer.
I think that ebay had brought prices down because before there were so few
places to get what you wanted. Now everyone has the opportunity many times
to pick up these pieces from any number of sellers. But that being said, although several Oregon boots and Hunchback locks have turned up on ebay, they are still rare items. That hunchback is as good as any I've seen. Nice boot
too. My opinion - It's great to see the rare items among the myriad of pure crap
now on ebay. Keep it coming. Makes it funner to look!

I wonder if Prynce E. Wheeler is rolling in his grave? Wheeler and Franklin M. Roshon credible sellers that I knew from way back and didn't charge a fortune for there items.

How about putting your own stuff up for sale at 'reasonable' prices
June 24 2009, 10:12 PM
I do not see any of the complainers offering up an Oregon boot for less nor any of these rare locks either.

"How about putting your own stuff up for sale at 'reasonable' prices"
All of my stuff stated out at a more than reasonable price, I have no trouble sleeping at night. And, yes, I believe that Prynce E. Wheeler is rolling around in his grave. Thanks for that comment.

In correspondence I had with the auction site in the past they stated to me that the
Feds want them to keep these locks and keys off of the site and since "they can't tell the
difference" between these locks and keys and locks and keys that are old, antique, or no longer
in service.
They just ban everything that is listed as "railroad" or in the RR category.

Even though I don't like what JT is doing on eBay, I was good enough to not flag his RR locks. I won't do onto others like the sackless bee-atches do onto me everytime I try to sell a lock book or a key machine cutting wheel or whatever over there. My protest is simply not buying from him and suggesting that others follow suit. Defend him all you want, but I am right and just in pointing this out. Notice how no one was offering bids on the Oregon Boot when he offered it for sale here on the forum, it was because he would only accept bids starting at a certain price. And he insulted us for not responding! What nerve! Read back if you doubt me.

I can't figure out why "ebay browser" makes it his lifes work to protect all of us from ebay sellers. Most of us are old enough and experienced enough to make our own decisions and don't need someone else telling us what to do and how much to pay.

I hope all tHe::::TRUE:::::coLLecTors see joe's auctions before these awesome bargins get away! 20 hours left and still no bids? You people must be fools for not putting in some bids on these ::::RARE::::: iTemS! I think that the fur is gonna fly at the last minute, 20 bids in the last 20 minutes on every auction! Maybe Mark Lyon is waiting to drop $15,000.00 on the Oregon Boot??? Who knows?!!!
I hope that the Keen Kutter doesn't go too high, I want that! I don't know where I can get one for less than $2,100.00.....oh wait, they normally sell for between $20-$275.00 at any lock show depending on condition, key, and rarity. What a joke.
