Not the original key.

Sorry but the key on your picture is not an original Caveney key.
This is what an original Caveney key looks like. It's the same
key design as for the Maltby triangualar cuff despite the Caveney
has threads inside. The keys were obviously not manufactured by
the handcuff companies.

Caveney vs Maltby keys

June 30 2009, 5:21 PM

Hi Atame,

What is the thread of the caveney key?

Standard US thread like 8-32 or 10-32?

I have the Maltby triangle key but not caveney. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Lars. I apologize for calling you Atame..

I was reading some other post and didn't read this one close enough before posting.

Atlanta,

I unfortunately can't tell since I have nothing to compare to.
Amercican thread patterns also differ from the European standards.

Atlanta*Casting the TPI is 32 but I will have to measure my taps. There are two different diameters used on the Caveney.

I have used the standard US thread 8/32 for the keys I have made. It works fine.
