the oregon boot made by gardner in late 800. i'm trying to reproduce one, but i have problems with the locking bolt.

You should read the Leininger patent ...

That should answer most of your questions.

If you are trying to make a reproduction, note that
the horizontal cross section is oval, not perfectly
round.

Major Axis
OD = 6.25
ID = 3.625
Minor Axis
OD 5.125
ID = 3.625
Thickness = 2.5
