Is NIJ being removed or altered or something? I mean the NIJ handcuff standard. Can someone provide information about this standard and it's future or replacement?

Below was excerpted from: https://justnet.org/compliant/Restraints.html

NIJ has published Criminal Justice Restraints Standard 1001.00. This is a voluntary performance standard for restraints for use by the criminal justice community. It addresses wrist-to-wrist and ankle-to-ankle restraints. It defines performance requirements and outlines methods used to test performance. The standard includes additional restraints technology. Single use restraints as well as nonmetallic and high security restraints are addressed. To download the standard, go to https://ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/nij/247988.pdf. A companion document, Criminal Justice Restraints Certification Program Requirements, NIJ CR-1001.00 will be published soon.

As of September 14, 2016, NIJ has discontinued this Compliance Testing Program for Metallic Handcuffs. Please see (FRN)https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2016-22057 for more information.

So what now? Is there a different standard that will be used by people around the world instead of NIJ?
