Does this mean we could hire a minibus and drive it?
From the DVLA
2. Drivers who do not have minibus entitlement (Category D1)
If your driving licence does not allow you to drive minibuses, there are certain circumstances where you still may be able to do so.
You may drive a minibus with up to 16 passenger seats if:
i) you drive on behalf of a non commercial body for social purposes but not for hire or reward, unless operating under a permit;
ii) you are aged 21;
iii) you have held a car (category B) licence for at least 2 years;
iv) you are providing your service on a voluntary basis; and
v) the minibus maximum weight is not more than 3.5 tonnes excluding any specialist equipment for the carriage of disabled passengers. Minibuses up to 4.25 tonnes will be permitted in certain circumstances.
vi)if you are aged 70 and over, you are able to meet the health standards for driving a vehicle (i.e. minibus) which comes within the D1 class;
When driving a minibus under these conditions you may not receive any payment or consideration for doing so other than out of pocket expenses or tow any size trailer; you may only drive minibuses in this country.
Drivers aged 70 or over will need to make a special application which involves meeting higher medical standards

Right we'll look into it tomorrow. The only thing is that we will have to leave at just after 4ish so if we do sort it then people will need to be around then. I don't think we will have much equipment with us so that might be pretty cool.

If you're gonna get the van from Hitchin, i'll have to come over with you to sign the contract thing.
Also, how are we gonna return the van the next morning? If i can stay somewhere in Pirton, i can take the van back with with one of you lot following in your car, and then you can take me back to The 'Nage from there.

Yes we have a minibus now and we'll be leaving at about 4pm if anyone wants to join us give us a shout we'll need a little bit of money for expenses but should be cool. Most of the seats have already gone so you'd best be quick.

CAN ONE OF YOU LOT PHONE ME?!? (Si, what's up with your mobile?)
Your DVLA thing on here says with catergorie B you can drive a a minibus with upto 16 Seats, my licence (the paper bit) says "Motor cars or light vans with up to 8 seats and up to 3500kg with a light trailer"
You'd better find out now, you don't want to book a 16 seater and then no one can drive it. Or at least make sure they've an 8 seater on as back up.

A few seats left because a couple of people have had to pull out because we are leaving so early. If you can handle it and want to come along then get in touch because its gonna be a right old laugh.

Me and Pete took the van back, i had all the windows fully open trying to get some fresh air in, plus the diesel was just above the red... and the bloke didn't even check! Just said "You didn't crash it then?" ...i was thinking "No, just don't sniff the passenger seat though!!!"

Just found out that i'm not actually licsensed to drive 16 seaters. (Anything up to 8 is fine) You need catergory D for 9 - 16 seaters and 7.5 ton lorries, and i've got Catergoty C.
Lucky i only drove the 184 miles to Norwich and back then eh?!
