I don't actually expect to get anywhere close to the red centre, but expect to get as far as maybe as the border of Queensland and Northern Territory. If we had more time, we would have planned to get to Alice Springs, but that's not going to happen. So, we've hired a 4WD and plan on just going wherever the road takes us. Stopping when we want to and moving on when we want to see more. For safety purposes, we'll have an Emergency beacon, maps and GPS.
I'll let you know approximately where we might go later, but I'm thinking Cairns to Karumba, then out toward Lawn Hill or somewhere around there.
I'll go through those links you sent later. I will definitely show my wife the pics from your Cairns trip as well.
