A challenge

I recently replaced my Blackberry with a newer one, and it's my first cell phone to have a camera. This one is 2 megapixel, which is more resolution than my first two digital cameras. It only has a few options, and no way to set anything we photographers are familiar with. f/stop? aperture? focus? Forget it! It does have a digital zoom, I.E., crop, but that's useless as we all know

So here's the deal. This is a REAL point and shoot. The only thing left that a real photographer has with a camera like this is finding the picture and framing it. That's the challenge. What can be done with a camera like this?

Whip out your cell phone and see what you can do with it.

Here's my submission. It's not a great shot, but I like it. That's probably influenced by the fact that it's my brother. It's straight out of the cell phone with no edits except for a resize and USM.

In my brother's hand is a couple of Canon cameras set up to do 3D, BTW.

Hey Bill, how about them BlackBerrys?

I have the BlackBerry "Pearl", only 1.3 megs, but gives some great results. I carry it everywhere
along with my Pana FX07 (7 megs) so well equipped to shoot and even email pictures anywhere.

When I first got mine, showed it to my Doctor. Great guy!

CHEERS, MATES!

video not bad, but out of the phone the pics are not too good, viewed on the 240x240 1.25" screen they look good though...

I used to work for cell phone hardware manufacturer- we used to make the original base station equipment for the Nextels/Motorola back in 1993, and I was late to own a cell phone myself, until my wife was pregnant. The first brick of a cell phone from VZ a Qualcomm/Sony lasted me 5 years 1999-2004, and only died as I fell on it in a bicycle accident I had...It actually still could make and recieve calls, but no sound.

Had to get a new phone, still no camera, but took advantage of the 2 week or 30 day cancellation and jumped to AT&T(That became Cingular and is now AT&T again). I went for the free Nokia 6820 Camera Phone that flips open to a full keyboard through a third-party store and the $80 rebate(Other stores were selling it at the time for $199). Also got my wife's cheaper Samsung phone free- we actually made 2 cents, less the tax. Battery is not keeping its charge for more than a day so maybe time to upgrade again...I do hear newer phones having to charge daily though.

I haven't synced up the phone in probably a year, but have a few more videos and shots inside it. The other good thing at the third party store is that they included car chargers and cases for free, where AT&T makes you pay for every little thing. Oh, with newer phones never get the micro SD cards at the Phone stores as they are much much cheaper at the Camera Stores
