Events have eclipsed the Enron questions, but the original purpose of the Democratic inquiry was an attempt to embarrass the administration for political reasons. Just as you included Enron in your post trying to taint Cheney almost 4 years after the fact, the Dems were attempting to get shallow thinkers to not look at the plan and its plusses or minuses and form an opinion accordingly, but to prevent an administration legislative victory on garbage such as meeting with the nuclear industry or meeting twice as often with energy firms than environmental groups. If you don’t have a better idea, divert attention and baffle them with bullshiit.
