Response to Ask the Dutch, stooopid,
They pulled out, without securing any kind of "peace" for the lightly-armed Dutch who followed after, because the Canadians had spent most of their time staying away from the action in order to avoid casualties. Their one shining moment, the battle at Medak, came about when they were actually challenged to fight, forced to fight.
The poor Dutch guys came in, received little to no briefing on the situation, and suddenly found themselves in the midst of full-on ethnic-cleansing. The Canadians were long gone, in a classic instance of UN "peacekeeping," that was to be echoed in Rwanda. Attempts have been made in both instances, btw, to shift the blame to the "Western Powers"(read: USA), but nobody who knows the facts pays any attention to that garbage.
