Canada has chosen the path of appeasement, even though they've committed troops to Afghanistan. They still believe that al Qaida is the only terrorist threat worth fighting, which suggests that Canada's involvement in Afghanistan is to avenge the deaths of their fellow Canadians killed in the 9/11 attack. They clearly blame US policy, including our support of Israel, for fomenting the rise in Islamic fascism since the Iranian Revolution. In opposing the War on Terror (by insisting that Iraq is not a part of it) they are "sympathizing" with those who want to destroy the West. They believe it's wise to oppose the US (and appease the jihaddists), in their own self interest. But it's really just an open invitation for the fox to guard the hen house.
