Response to Canada's position was quite clear.
Chretien tried to broker a compromise between the coalition and the French and Russians, by extending the British set deadline for compliance by (cough) 11 days. It was a meaningless, self-serving ploy to vault Canada into the "peace broker" limelight. Chretien had stated that he wasn't opposed to using military force to enforce 1441, but it's abunantly clear that he didn't want the British or Americans making that decision. Ergo, Chriac's ass hairs were stuck in his teeth.
Chirac said nothing about Bush not making the case. That's your fantasy.
