Re-inlistments* are above quota and from the letters home and to "the local papers" outside the elite media the troops overwhelmingly think the mission is important and worth the price being paid.


*I don't know what the re-inlistment rate will be in the Army Guard units. Traditionally a call up was for 1 year of active duty. These guys are being pushed due to the overall reduction in strength in the 90's. We need a larger standing army (not the same thing as more troops in Iraq). It is a mistake not to increase it.
