Saddam should have been killed when they found him.
I strongly disagree with the "conventional wisdom" that Saddam's trial will help the Iraqis move forward. If anything, it will do the exact opposite. The more face time he gets, the more he will garner sympathy from the Sunni Arab world, as he makes his case against Bush and the USA. His testimony is pointless to the Shiites and Kurds who have been freed from his reign. It will only heighten and inflame the paranoia of a well-armed, Sunni minority.
Saddam's trial won't vindicate Bush's decision to oust the bastard. Too many media types passionately hate Bush, no matter what he does. But it will make France and Russia look the wiser to the peacetards. I wish some crazy would pick his sorry ass off. | |
