...you've mentioned that this is a war between Western ideology and the current radical Islam that we now see in the Middle East. But politics plays a much bigger role. Hussein was not considered to be part of this. He certainly wasn't before the Gulf War. He was always a brutal dictator but up until the current administration I don't recall him being considered a radical muslim. The two entities are different.
Second, those countries that have been the target of Muslim terrorist attacks have been those who have had a strong presence in the region (define that presence as you will).
