Response to Kerry is just not serious
I believe a lot of it has to do with the religious right. Most Jews seem to support secularism while the Christian right wing opposes it. I'm sure most Jews are well aware of the religious right wings strong support for Israel. However, they also realize that there are elements among "Christian Zionists" whose apocalyptic ideological reasons for backing Israel are not in their best interests. You know, Armaggedon and the second coming of their messiah...yada yada. I've read that they even sponsor Jewish families from certain countries (like Russia) to move to Israel. Wonder why?
I'm not sure how many Jews are influenced by their "Euro Socialist heritage" but there is definitely a left wing tradition in the Jewish community over the past century. Here in Canada the Jewish community has always supported the Liberals and to a lesser extent the NDP.
Interesting tidbit. The majority of Muslims and Jews will be probably voting for John Kerry in this election.
