Response to Iraq is not the War On Terror...
Exactly who are you serving with that you draw your conclusions from? The 1st US Support Bn is an active duty unit whose mission is to support MFO. Troop deployments to Iraq have been on a unit rather than individual basis. This battalion has an authorized strength of 361. Not exactly a large population sample of the armed forces. The largest US contingent is the reinforced rifle Bn. This is currently composed of the 1/114 Inf from the New Jersey National Guard and a rifle company from the Massachusetts National Guard. From local news stories this is the first overseas deployment for most of members of the 1/114th. That unit has never been deployed to Iraq. Hate to break it to you D' but George Bush was never going to swing a majority of voters from New Jersey or Massachusetts Iraq or no Iraq. These are still citizen soldiers and they have the same political leanings of the state they are from.
In short, I think your second paragraph is typical FOS D' hyperbole.
