Response to Neil Young: the true barometer of love

Or, perhaps you could have strummed out the simple chords to this song, and seen how she reacted?

I've been so lucky in love, I shouldn't make jokes, lest the gods take their pound of flesh. My wife and I just found out today, that her cousin and her hubby, who were really good friends of ours and baptized our first daughter, are getting unhitched due to circumstances that would curl Michael Jackson's smoove locks. He's gotten them into drugs and swinging, with a very unsavory, criminal-oriented couple, and it's been going on for the past couple of years of their childless marriage. If you knew these two, you would never believe it...I USED to think I was a pretty good judge of character. That's over. Godalmighty, the things we take for granted...

Have I led a sheltered life? I didn't think so, until today. Now, I'm wondering what else I should take a fresh look at, in the world that surrounds me. The guy who baptized my daughter, who I've watched many a football and hockey game with, while the wives discussed the latest gossip, likes to get dressed up in a black teddy, garter and stockings, and watch his wife get hammered by some hillbilly. A few different ones, in fact. He likes getting dressed up, and he has some...toys of his own, which she recently found. Leave it!

Well, Christ said, "let he who is innocent, cast the first stone." Relatively speaking, I'm looking around for a nice, sharp, heavy piece of granite...

Hello cowgirl in the sand
Is this place at your command
Can I stay here for a while
Can I see your sweet sweet smile
Old enough now to change your name
When so many love you is it the same?
It's the woman in you that makes you want to play this game.

Hello ruby in the dust
Has your band begun to rust
After all the sin we've had
I was hopin' that we turn back
Old enough now to change your name
When so many love you is it the same
It's the woman in you that makes you want to play this game.

Hello woman of my dreams
This is not the way it seems
Purple words on a grey background
To be a woman and to be turned down
Old enough now to change your name
When so many love you is it the same
It's the woman in you that makes you want to play this game.
