Four months of service in Viet Nam does not equate to being qualified as Commander in Chief. Thta was a failed bit...a mortally, self-inflicted wound, no pun intended.

Bush may have failed in some of his business dealings in the past, but he at least he had the experience of being a "small business" owner, which I think is crucial. While he was governor of Texas, moderates and liberals were invited to the table to hammer out important legislation. He was a popular leader whose experience governing a diverse economy and population put him head and shoulders above Kerry in that regard. He had the experience of using the bully pulpit to persuade legislators to pass his agenda, but he was also willing to compromise if necessary. Bush may be a conservative in word, but he is, without question, a moderate in deed. But you would never know it if you depended on the mainstream media for the facts.

This is where the Democrats failed so miserably. Had they relied on the truth about Bush, and promoted someone like Gebhardt, they may have easily won this election. That is their failing. They chose a candidate who doesn't represent the values of mainstream America.
