Shrink is for making a backup of a DVD you purchased or rented. It won't capture video from a camcorder.

I use DVD X Maker for that. Problem is, it was made by 321 Studios and they went belly-up defending themselves against Napster type lawsuits. You can still find their product around and supposedly they made arrangement with a third party for activation, but I'd make sure before I bought. I've seen it as low as $10 online. This is what is sucky about our copyright law, ripping a DVD is not against the law anywhere but here. Shrink is a Brit product. Perfectly legal there. So what we have is a bunch of good people losing their butts and jobs because the MPAA is vainly trying to keep its finger in the dike. (Add Jack Valenti to your zap list).

If you wish, I'll make you a copy of X Maker and give you my activation code. I can't see how that can hurt a company that is no longer in business. E-mail me and you can give me your work address or something since your wife really thinks I'm a 16 year old nyphette lawyer groupie and wouldn't want me to know where you live.

This is a good help site. The link is for you to browse authoring software, but the whole site has good info on it.
