Being a season tix holder since '94, the amount of time that the players stand around during commercials has tripled. During the late 90's the crowd would be yelling and screaming "C'mon lets go!!". But now, we've given up against The Powers That Be. One playoff commercial stretch lasted 5 minutes...and we were treated to adds on the big board...it was just, such a special moment.
Like the distraction it causes on the ice, the excessive commercials can upset a football game's flow and a team's momentum, especially after a big play/turnover. It always cracks me up when I hear people say "Trash instant replay, it slow the game down". Um, ah, excuse me?? Cut out about 100 commercials, there will still be 200 left and the game will speed up...and we can move the 4:15 starts back to 4:00.
You know those post super bowl internet polls about 'Which commercial did YOU like best'? How 'bout adding this as a choice:
* I'm a football fan, and don't particularly give a f*ck about the adds. I see enough of them every day.
I'd take part in that poll. But um, the monkeys in the business meeting did make me laugh......See that dammit, I'm a victim too!
