Since the end of WWII and the beginning of the Cold War, the French have always teetered on the brink of becoming an outright enemy of the USA - no matter which political party is in office. But it figures that you would commend them, even though their imperialist past laid the foundation for conflict in Viet Nam AND the Middle East.
