I mean no offense to Big E and other like-minded Canadians, but how can any American respect a nation of people who - in criticizing American foreign policy as "imperialist" - would rather preserve the British monarchy (for cosmetic reasons, of course) than squarely face the reality that Europe's colonial past has stoked the fires of Islamic radicalism for centuries. Talk about irony! smike and his fellow Canadian monarchists pay homage to the glories of a colonial past that drew the boundaries of the current Middle East, yet their primary reason for upholding the traditions of the Crown is to differentiate themselves from the USA. It's like the Ministry of Silly Walks character in Monty Python, except he's kicking himself in the nuts all the time.
