As to the Major. Where was the base? What was going on at the time? What was on the base? Were there nukes stored on the base? The military takes those real seriously. A friend of mine was an Artillery officer in a unit in Europe that had tactical nukes. Every time they moved them around they put out a full platoon strength defensive position locked and loaded every time the trucks pulled over for maintenance or pee break. I hope the Major was passed over for his next promotion and is now doing something else with his life. The guards are there for a reason. You are supposed to stop and let the guard examine your ID for a reason. Hasn't this guy ever watched "24"!?! In your example the Major is the one with poor judgement. |
