I did not mean to be impolite by using the quotation marks. The original message was not mine anyway. I totally agrees the we ought to find the primary sources if possible, before any conclusions are made on any subject.
Do you happend to know if aborted ops would count for the airplane, even if it did not for the crew ? I do not to speculate to much, but there seems to be quite a few possibilities to explain the ops/airfraim ratio. But as you say, we need the ORB for 76 sqn. Is it correct that the 1942 part is missing altogether from NA/PRO ?
By the way Wales is a beautiful part of the big island overthere, but I think Scotland comes first (sorry, what did I say about hasty conclusions).
