Ian perhaps you are best equipped to answer this question. I am trying to to track the history of a couple of Halis, I am pretty certain they served with other squadrons before coming into 431 squadron's hands.

Do you know if a list exists that contains the squadron postings of each halifax?

MZ537 425 Sqn then 431 Sqn. FTR ops 17/06/44
MZ589 426 Sqn then 431 Sqn. FTR ops 29/07/44
MZ628 431 Sqn only. FTR ops 19/07/44
MZ657 431 Sqn only. written off 06/07/44
MZ685 431 Sqn only. written off 17/07/44

425 Sqn codes were KW-
426 Sqn codes were OW-

MZ-589 first flown by 426 squadron carried OW-A
MZ-537 may of been assigned to 425 Squadron but did not fly any ops.

This Halifax was flown by my Uncle S/L C.G. Bull and was shot down on July 18 / 44. If you have any more information that you might share with myself and my family we would greatly appreciate it.
