HiWes,
Post a picture of said compass on the forum here, along with any AM numbers which should be either stamped into it or fitted to a plate on it.
Best wishes
Ian

The compass you show is a P4 which was used in most aircraft during the war,Ed

Husun P.6 Compass

May 21 2007, 11:18 AM

Just to drag up a historical post;

I too have acquired an old Husun compass.
Mine is a Type P.6, serial No. 0800. It has been repainted which hides anymore identifying marks. I'd include a photo, but my camera is U/S.
Could anyone shed some light as to what this unit may have been used?

It has had the solder seal removed from the bellows on the bottom of the unit. I intend re-soldering the case to make it (relatively) serviceable again, I was just wondering what I should fill it with. It was suggested that I use isopropyl alcohol but I don’t want to damage the internals in any way.
I read somewhere else that Hexane was used in the mechanism of a bubble sextant, would anyone know if it be better suited to this application?
