There is now an international team of hand picked Moderators monitoring the forum.
I made the decision to have the forum 'policed' after careful thought, for I am an Natural Anarchist, and to a large extent, the forum was an anarcho- syndicallistic ideal. (I had to look it up. That means it took care of itself with no bother, because the forum users were all happily co-operating with no formal leadership.
)
We have deleted one posting in all the years we have been in operation, and as Web Mistress, I have rarely, if ever, made a posting, until now.
Our forum has run quietly and trouble free for a long time, a peaceful back water on the web. Maybe we have done our job a little too well, for, as the profile of the Halifax is raised in the public consciousness, we may become a target for the wrong kind of attention.
If you would like to be a forum moderator, the main requirements are that you drop by the forum more or less everyday, and have time to cast an eye over the posting activity. Please let us know if you wish to be considered, by e-mailing Ian direct.

We now have the facility for a chat room, which we have not yet activated.
Do we need a chat room, or are we happy as we are?
Would a chat room just prove to be a magnet for disruptive people, or a good way of old pals and family members making contact, and doing the social thing?
Maybe we should add a 'General Discussion' facility to the existing forum instead?
