Hi Peter,

It is not only confusing for AVRO683 types, I think.

But there is a photograph of DT501 on page 53 of the Halifax File, which was built in the same timespan but in a batch preceding that of DT575. This show the aircraft with a noseturret and the earlier style rudders. Later aircraft in the DT-serial such as DT727 range had the Tollerton fairing for instance.

Hope this helps a bit

Cheers

Cees

Halifaxes DT567 & DT578 are the nearest comparisons held in the database file here. Sadly we do not have either photo available

Here's where you can find them:-

Location: Bomber Command 1939 - 1945 page83
Sqn: 51
Code letter: V
Details: Brand new a/c used at factory for photo shoot

Serial No: DT578
Date: N/K
Location: Yorkshire Air Museum Control Tower Display
Sqn: 77
Code letter: T
'T' on ground

Serian No: DT579
Date: 00/08/42
Location: Halifax At War page 46
Sqn: 77
Code letter: P

Hope this helps?
