Halifax photo

September 12 2006, 11:28 AM

Dear Sir - -

As a member of a small committee of the historical association in the borderregion Denmark/Germany I am for the time being working on the text to a display in danish/english/german which is to be placed nearby a new memorial set for the crew of RCAF Halifax W1274 which crashed on september 24 at 04.08 AM in Elso Moor on the northern (danish) side of the Flensburg Fjord.

A ceremony will be held at the memorial on 23. september 2006 11.00 AM and it will be attended by a crew of 5 from a plane from Squadron 405 taking the long road from Greenwood, Nova Scotia to the southern part of Denmark.

I have been looking for a good photo of a Halifax Mark II for the display and seeing your apply for a photo of a Halifax of the 405 I take the opportunity to ask you, if you have found such a photo? If so we should of course appreciate, if we could get a copy of it (as high a solution as possible)to be used in the display together with the text telling about the crew, the raid and the crash, the plane and the Squadron RCAF 405.

Yours faithfully - -

Torben Olholm, journalist at Danmarks Radio, Regional branch in Southern Jutland
